Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Handicapping Horse Races But Were Afraid To Ask

Horseracing, the “Sport of Kings,” has been around for thousands of years and therefore has a rich history. It can also be extremely complicated, especially if you are one of those ambitious souls who is determined to handicap the races and make some money for your efforts.

We are living in the information age and that means that almost every day finds a new product supplying us with yet more data about equine sports. After a while, the mind boggles and we realize we cannot possibly make sense of all the information and we go into information overload.

Breeding information, sire stats, trainer moves, track models, jockey strengths and weaknesses, the list goes on and on, and yet, we are using the same basic computer that our ancestors used to pick winners. I am talking about our brains. The human brain hasn’t changed much in thousands of years, but we are asking it to do more and more with more information.

Regardless of what our powerful computers can do, we, as humans, can only digest and assimilate so much data and then any more we try to add becomes useless. What we have to do is to use our brains to figure out what we need to know and how to get that information and then we need to disregard the rest.

That being said, have you ever asked yourself this question, “What do I need to know to successfully handicap horse races?”

Here is a suggestion to help you to get your handicapping under control. Sit down and make a list of the points that you need to know in order to successfully pick winners and to make money betting on them. It is amazing how many people cannot tell you what it is they are looking for when they read past performances or a racing program. If you don’t know what you are looking for, what you need to know, how will you know it when you see it?

The place to start is to look at recent winners and try to see what factors they had in common or that they possessed that the other runners did not. Make a list of those factors and you will soon have a list of what you need to know to find the next list of winners, before they run. That list of things they had in common will also serve as a list of things you need to know, in other words, everything you wanted to know about handicapping horse races.

The most consistent horse racing systems have to have the basics and a handicapper must understand the basics. I have been around horse racing for 50 years including as an owner. Without the basics the rest is not going to do any good. If you want to learn how a horse owner and insider handicaps just go to http://williewins.homestead.com/truecb.html and get the truth.
